Not only when dealing with startups, but every business becomes challenging when it comes to the money funding. The whole process of making the perfect pitch is a crook in the lot. The fact which upsets, even more, is the realization that even with a huge experience under your belt this obligatory preparation would be a real test of your strength. The main and obvious rule not only for newcomers but for everyone is not to succumb to panic and always remain calm. But what are the others steps on our way to ‘successful selling’?
WHAT IS A PITCH DECK?
Are you an entrepreneur? Product Owner? And you need some investments? – Create a Pitch Deck!
So what do I mean by Pitch Desk? A Pitch Desk is a PowerPoint presentation with usually from 12 to 18 slides which provide your target audience with the full company overview, of course including what you’re looking for from a financing standpoint. The systematic mistake here is an attempt to insert too many words that have no chance of ever being even looked at.
WHAT SHOULD YOU HAVE IN YOUR PITCH DECK?
So you should have one or two major thoughts per slide and maybe some statistics on it, again in very large type or in bullets.
Do not be afraid to exaggerate your vision. Your ambitious can play a crucial role when candidates seem to be equal and the ideas are quite similar. No investor would want to give their money to a company that doesn’t know how to expand and grow with the vision.
KNOW YOUR NUMBERS
There is no way to impress your investors without showing a precisely detailed financial plan for the initial years that display your expenses, revenue growth, margins and potential profit. It is up to you how favorably and alluring your financial forecast will be.
12 Slides = less than 20 minutes. This is the rule that brings you success. Well, of course, the number of slides needs not strictly to be 12 but don’t create 20 or more. It is not very good sign for the investors. Act fast and smart.
TELL ABOUT YOUR TEAM
Without our people and our support nothing would really have matter. Display this idea in your presentation. Tell about people with whom you will change the world. Or, in case you don’t have such people, emphasis on your eagerness to find and build your own team of leaders.
AND THE MOST IMPORTANT THING….
Have a great time when you’re presenting!
